Strategies for Change
We’re helping to end hunger in our region. That change starts with the understanding that the people we serve are not our clients. They are our neighbors.
We’re all neighbors here.
We’re building a food pantry where social engagement, mutual respect, and neighborly care can unify and improve whole communities. Where success is not only measured in pounds of dispensed food, or by the volume of “clients” receiving that food, but by the number of neighbors uplifted and feeling hopeful.
Our strategies for change:
Our strategies for ending hunger in our 15-village region start with the understanding that we are all neighbors.
Pantry Transformation
Freedom of Choice: We have purchased and converted a 7,000 square foot former factory into a “choice” grocery store service model. We will continue to improve upon this format by creating opportunities for social interaction among visitors and volunteers.
Resource Center
Concurrently, we’re building a resource advisory center at the pantry. The new “Resource Hub” will help neighbors learn about services available locally, as well as through county, state, and federal channels.
Food is Medicine
Within our transformed self-choice grocery store format, we are also better able to address related neighbor needs. Including “Food is Medicine” guidance and the provision of related higher-cost nutritional foods, fruits and vegetables.

Community Outreach & Development
To address the causes of hunger in our 15-village region, our food pantry is building productive relationships with business leaders and civic leaders. This requires a sustained education and advocacy effort within a region populated by haves and have-nots. A region within which, we are all neighbors.
