Ending hunger starts with caring neighbors.
You can make a difference here.
Our food pantry exists to help end hunger across our 15 village region. We are doing that by providing a pantry environment where visiting neighbors can, with dignity, choose the food they need.
Here, visitors and volunteers can engage each other as neighbors. Here, such ordinary engagement can make an extraordinary difference in the lives of those we are here to serve, and in the lives of all who care.
“As a teenager, I worked in a grocery store. And I feel, hey, I'm still just helping customers. I don't treat them any different than I would treat them if I still worked at a grocery store.”
-- Sue, SFSL Volunteer
We’re all neighbors here.
We welcome individuals and groups of all ages to partner with us to end hunger in our region. Share Food Share Love is a perfect place to contribute to this change, while growing in your confidence, problem-solving, and community building skills.
We have uplifting work to do.
Hunger persists in our region for many reasons. One of those reasons is the persistence of stigmatizing prejudice. We know that there are those who will sit in judgement of our neighbors in need. We know there are those who will be skeptical of what we are doing here. So, we need caring volunteers who have higher expectations of ourselves, and for the communities in which we live.
“There’s no feeling on my part that you're a failure because you have to come to the food pantry. I’ve seen a variety of people getting help. Someone my kid went to school with. Their parents. It can be anyone."
— Joyce, SFSL Volunteer
